MOREMay 2012 - Spinning and Weaving Program for 4th Graders
Each
year the museum offers a Spinning and Weaving program to area 4th
graders. The two part program consists of a spinning demonstration and
hands on weaving at the four harness looms. This year three experienced
spinners enlightened the children with stories of sheep, wool gathering
and the history of spinning. They are, Lamar Bliss, Barbara Short, and
Vernice Church. Weaving at the looms was demonstrated and overseen by
Michey Champagne and Courtney Dolye, museum staff.

Part of the mission of the museum is to interpret exhibits. Each year we invite area school children to the museum to enjoy our holiday program. Many smaller groups come throughout the year for demonstrations and tours.
HOLIDAY PROGRAM consists of three parts that include a tour of the exhibit about the replica watches, a story reading, and a hands-on craft activity.
SPINNING AND WEAVING PROGRAM usually includes a spinning demonstration and weaving instruction for all participants.
SCHOOL TOURS are offered year round, just call ahead to make an appointment.
